Five Die In Lagos-Badagry Expressway Crash

Five men have died in a crash involving a Toyota Camry and an Iveco truck on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The collision happened in the early hours of Saturday at Sawmill, near Mowo Bus Stop. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said it received a distress call at about 5:16am and sent its Dolphin Team from Igando to the scene.

The agency said the Toyota Camry, with registration number FKJ 630KS, collided head-on with an Iveco truck marked T28081 LA. Preliminary findings cited by LASEMA blamed speeding and reckless driving by the Camry driver, who was said to have lost control and crossed into the opposite lane.

Punch and Daily Post both reported that the five victims were adult male occupants of the Camry. Their bodies were recovered and handed over to officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps for further action.

Responders at the scene included LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the FRSC and police officers from Morogbo Division. Two tow trucks were deployed to remove the wrecked vehicles and ease traffic on the expressway.
