The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has destroyed two cannabis farms and arrested 10 suspected drug traffickers in operations across the state.

The command said the farms were in Ugboku, Igbanke Forest, in Orhionmwon Local Government Area. It put the estimated cannabis yield at 4,628.9kg, while Daily Post gave a more exact figure of 4,628.9775kg from two farms covering about 1.85 hectares.

The arrests were made in separate operations at Oluku and Abuja Quarters in Benin City. The state commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the raids followed intelligence and formed part of efforts to disrupt cannabis cultivation and distribution in Edo.

Punch, Vanguard and Daily Post all reported the same operation, the farm destruction and the 10 arrests. The suspects had not been convicted as of the reports, and the agency said further investigations would continue.
