Ondo Police Arrest Man After Mother Is Killed In Ore
Police in Ondo State have arrested a 23-year-old man, Samuel Akoade, after his 60-year-old mother, Olufunke Amoo, was killed in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The incident was reported at the family home in the Powerline area along Ore-Okitipupa Road on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Vanguard reported that the woman was found with deep machete cuts, while Punch said police later confirmed the suspect had been taken into custody.
Police operatives from the Ore Division were said to have visited the scene, recovered a machete suspected to have been used in the attack and moved the woman’s body to the General Hospital, Ore, morgue.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure. Police spokesman Jimoh Abayomi said Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu had ordered investigators to establish what happened and ensure the case is handled professionally.
No motive has been confirmed. The reports said the suspect fled before police arrived but was later arrested by officers.
