Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Qur’an Desecration In Kebbi

Police in Kebbi State have arrested a 29-year-old man in Zuru over the alleged desecration of a Qur’an.
The allegation was reported by Punch, Vanguard and Daily Post, and police accounts in the reports said the matter was being investigated by the command.
Because the case involves a sensitive religious allegation, the claim remains an allegation and not a proven offence.
The reports identified Zuru as the location of the arrest and said the police moved in after the allegation was raised locally.
Police urged residents to remain calm while the case is investigated, a point that is important in a matter that could inflame religious tension if handled carelessly.
