Kaduna police say six suspected kidnappers have been arrested after officers raided a house in Ikara Local Government Area where an escaped victim said he had been held.

The state police command also said the operation led to the dismantling of a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Dogon Pako Village.

Police spokesperson Mansir Hassan said the raid followed information from a victim who escaped captivity and intelligence from members of the public.

The victim reported the abduction on Tuesday and identified a house belonging to Ja’e Samalu, 65, as the place where he was allegedly held.

Hassan said officers from the Ikara Police Division moved to the location with members of the local vigilante service and arrested six suspects aged between 20 and 65.

The suspects are in police custody while investigators work to establish their roles in the alleged crime. Police also said efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the network.

Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu commended the officers and residents who supplied information, and urged communities to report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station.
