Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue 10-Year-Old Boy In Sokoto

Police in Sokoto have arrested two suspected kidnappers in separate operations and rescued a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly abducted and hidden inside a sack.

The Sokoto State Police Command said one suspect, Abdullahi Buba, also known as Osho, was arrested on August 8 during a raid on a hideout in Tudun Doki village, Gwadabawa Local Government Area. Police said early findings linked him to a kidnapping syndicate accused of operating around Gwadabawa, Kware and Gada LGAs.

In another operation, police said officers from the Gidan Madi Division rescued Muhammad Sufiyanu, 10, after his uncle reported him missing on August 11 in Gidan Madi town, Tangaza LGA.

Detectives later intercepted two people on a motorcycle at about 11pm. The suspects fled when challenged and abandoned a concealed sack. Police said the boy was found inside it, alive and responsive.

The child was taken to Gidan Madi General Hospital for treatment and later discharged. Police said he told investigators that one of the suspects lured him into a room, injected him with a sedative and forced him into the sack.

The command said one suspect had been arrested in connection with the boy’s abduction, while investigators were still pursuing others linked to both cases.
