Police Arrest 27-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Defilement Of Ondo Teenager
Police in Ondo State have arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, over the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The command said the case was first reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station before it was transferred to the Gender Based Offences Unit because of the sensitive nature of the allegation.
According to the police account reported by Punch and Vanguard, the girl’s guardian told officers that the teenager, who worked as a domestic help, had repeatedly left home without permission. When questioned, she allegedly said Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
Police said operatives began an investigation after the report and later arrested the suspect. The command said the girl had been placed under appropriate care while steps were being taken under procedures for alleged sexual offences involving minors.
The Ondo Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, directed the Gender Based Offences Unit to carry out a thorough investigation and establish the facts of the case. The command also urged parents and guardians to monitor children under their care and report suspected abuse promptly.
The suspect remained in police custody as the investigation continued, Vanguard reported.
