13 Rescued, 16 Injured In Kano Building Collapse
Thirteen people were rescued after a residential building collapsed in the Dandishe area of Kwanar Yashi, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Kano State Fire Service said 16 people were injured in the early-morning incident. Emergency officials received a distress call at about 4:32am and moved a rescue team to the scene.
The affected structure was described as a residential building measuring about 20 by 30 feet. Fire service officials said the response team removed trapped occupants and handed injured victims over for medical attention.
Punch reported that the incident happened in the Dan Dishe area of Kwanar Yashi. Daily Trust also reported the collapse in Dandishe, Kwanar Yashi, and said the injured victims were taken for treatment after the rescue operation.
The cause of the collapse had not been announced in the reports. Building collapses remain a recurring safety concern in several Nigerian cities, especially where older structures, poor materials or weak supervision are involved.
