Troops Disrupt Terrorist Logistics In Zamfara, Recover N5.3m
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have disrupted suspected terrorist logistics movements in Zamfara State, recovering more than N5.3 million and clearing an improvised explosive device near Jabanda village in Zurmi Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out on August 7, also covered parts of Birnin Magaji, Shinkafi and Maradun, where security teams reported encounters with fleeing terrorists and the arrest of a suspected logistics supplier.
The Joint Task Force said Sector 2 troops, working with a Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, responded to a report of a suspected IED near Jabanda. The team located and cleared the device, scanned the road and reopened it to motorists.
Separate reports said troops recovered motorcycles, camouflage items, a handheld radio and other materials after encounters around Birnin Tsaba and Kwanar Jolof. Near Maradun, soldiers reportedly intercepted 35-year-old Lawali Dan Alo with over N5 million in cash and a mobile phone.
The military operation comes amid continuing security pressure in Zamfara and other North-West states, where armed groups have used local supply routes to move cash, motorcycles, clothing and communication tools.
