Three Children Found Dead At Native Doctor’s Residence In Anambra

Police in Anambra State have opened an investigation after three children were found dead at the residence of a woman described locally as a native doctor.

The incident happened at Umuoduba Village in Ideani, Idemili North Local Government Area. Premium Times reported that four children, aged between six and 15, were found when police visited the area on Wednesday, but three were confirmed dead.

Punch reported that the fourth child was still breathing and was taken to hospital. Community accounts in the report said the children had gone to the woman’s residence before they were later found unconscious.

Anambra police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that officers had taken a suspect into custody and said the command had begun a full investigation into the circumstances around the deaths.

Premium Times reported that police did not identify the suspect as a spiritualist in the official statement, although residents used the local description. The police account said the bodies had been deposited in a morgue and that the surviving child was receiving medical attention.

The case remains under investigation, and the reports did not establish the cause of death.
