Troops Arrest Four Suspected Boko Haram Logistics Suppliers In Borno, Yobe
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested four suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP collaborators in separate operations in Yobe and Borno states.
The arrests were announced on Tuesday by Capt. Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer at the Joint Task Force North-East headquarters.
According to the military statement reported by Punch and Vanguard, troops of 159 Battalion arrested two suspected collaborators during a cordon-and-search operation in Geidam, Yobe State, on August 3.
The statement said preliminary findings linked the suspects to the supply of hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram fighters. Items recovered included suspected Indian hemp, mobile phones, power banks, knives, torchlights, cigarette rolls, Pregabalin capsules, identity cards, ATM cards and N14,530.
In a second operation in Monguno, Borno State, troops of Sector 3 Garrison and 242 Reconnaissance Battalion arrested two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers after surveillance of supply routes.
The task force also said troops on patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga intercepted 20 suspected family members of JAS fighters who had fled their enclave under military pressure. Vanguard reported that the group comprised nine women, two men, eight female minors and one male minor.
