Tinubu Tells Catholic Bishops Security Reforms Will Defeat Terrorism

President Bola Tinubu has told Catholic bishops that his administration’s security changes will defeat terrorism, banditry and kidnappings.

Tinubu spoke in Abuja while receiving leaders of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria at the State House. The delegation was led by the conference president, Most Rev. Matthew Ndagoso, Archbishop of Kaduna.

Vanguard and Channels TV reported that Tinubu said the security system was being repositioned through better intelligence, institutional changes, logistics support and attention to frontline personnel welfare. He also said he had approved an expansion of the armed forces, more equipment and new barracks.

The president asked religious leaders to condemn violent attacks and support efforts to end insurgency. He also pointed to education and welfare programmes, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, as part of the government’s response to hardship.

Channels TV reported that Tinubu said the economy had recovered from what he described as the risk of bankruptcy, while Vanguard reported his comments that the country had been placed on a sound footing.
