Kogi Poly Suspends Six Lecturers Over Misconduct Allegations
Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has suspended six lecturers over misconduct allegations involving unauthorised handout and textbook sales, cult-related claims and sexual harassment complaints.
The institution said the suspensions took effect after management began looking into complaints raised against some staff members. Its spokesperson, John Onimisi, said in a Sunday statement that six lecturers were suspended on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, over alleged unauthorised sales of handouts and textbooks, while another lecturer was suspended over alleged sexual harassment.
The case has widened beyond the initial disciplinary action. The reports said the school is also examining allegations of sex-for-marks, cult activity and other conduct problems on campus.
Some claims from within the school alleged that lecturers had demanded sexual favours or money from female students in exchange for passing grades. There were also claims that cult groups had resumed night meetings and that some students who reported harassment did not get enough support.
Onimisi said the allegations were already before the institution’s disciplinary committee and that management would take action after the investigation.
The polytechnic has not announced a final disciplinary decision against the affected lecturers. The allegations remain under investigation.
