Bandits Abduct Bungudu Chairman, Kill Four Security Personnel
Bandits have abducted the chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nura Abdullahi, after an attack on his residence in Bungudu town.
The attack happened late on Thursday night. Premium Times reported that Abdullahi was taken with two other residents, while Daily Trust reported that his wife and children were also caught up in the raid before some of the children were rescued during a chase by security operatives.
The two outlets both reported deaths among security personnel at the chairman’s residence. Daily Trust said two police officers and two vigilantes were killed. Premium Times also put the toll at four security personnel.
Residents said the attackers overpowered guards at the house in the Zango area before leaving with the council chairman. The incident adds to the pressure on security agencies in Zamfara, where communities have faced repeated raids and abductions.
