Mbah Says Enugu Air Safety Non-Negotiable After Runway Incident
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has assured passengers that safety remains non-negotiable for Enugu Air after Thursday’s runway incident involving one of the airline’s aircraft at Benin Airport.
The fresh assurance followed the runway excursion involving Enugu Air Flight 4264 from Lagos to Benin, earlier reported by NaijaTrend here.
Mbah said the state government was aware of the incident involving an Embraer E170 aircraft carrying 63 passengers and five crew members. He expressed sympathy with those on board and said no life was lost and no injuries had been reported.
Punch, Vanguard and Channels TV all reported that the governor commended aviation authorities for opening an investigation and said Enugu State would cooperate fully with the process.
The governor’s statement comes after aviation regulators and investigators began looking into the incident. The public focus now turns to the findings of that probe and any safety steps that may follow for the state-owned airline.
