Ogun Plans Safety Commission, Warns Industries Against Paper Compliance

The Ogun State Government says it plans to upgrade its Safety Office into a full Safety Commission as part of a push for stronger workplace and industrial safety enforcement.

Commissioner for Environment Ola Oresanya announced the plan on Tuesday during a training workshop for safety officers in the state.

He warned that the government would no longer tolerate safety rules that exist only in company manuals while workers remain exposed to avoidable risks.

Daily Post and Punch reported that the proposed commission would be expected to strengthen monitoring, improve compliance and enforce safety standards across industries in Ogun.

The government said the policy is aimed at reducing workplace accidents and making safety officers more active in preventing industrial hazards.
