Ex-DSS Director Claims Abacha Died Of Cardiac Arrest During Intercourse
A former Assistant Director of the Department of State Services, Dennis Amachree, has claimed that former military Head of State Sani Abacha died of cardiac arrest during sexual intercourse.
Amachree made the claim in his memoir, DSS @40: Forty Years Of Patriotic Service, according to Daily Post and Punch.
Abacha ruled Nigeria from November 1993 until his death in June 1998. His death has long been surrounded by competing accounts, and Amachree’s version is being presented as his own claim from his time in the security service.
Punch reported that Amachree also wrote that Abacha believed he was politically secure and had planned to return as a civilian president.
Because the account concerns events from 1998 and is based on Amachree’s recollection, the claim is being attributed to him rather than stated as an independently established cause of death.
