Rainstorm Kills Four, Destroys School And Hospital In Sokoto
Four people have died after a windstorm and heavy rain hit communities in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The storm also destroyed homes and damaged public facilities, including a primary school and a hospital, leaving affected families in need of emergency support.
Daily Trust reported that the rainstorm swept through Mallamawa, Mai Mushe, Kaura, Sabon Gari, Rungin Tsamiya and nearby settlements on Saturday. Several residents were injured, while hundreds of households were affected.
The National Emergency Management Agency’s Sokoto Operations Office carried out an assessment of the affected communities to determine the scale of damage and the immediate needs of victims.
NEMA’s preliminary findings showed that many homes were either destroyed or badly damaged. The agency said the assessment would help guide emergency response and support for displaced families.
