Bandits Raid Sokoto Village, Shoot Three Residents And Rustle Livestock

Armed bandits have attacked Rimawa village in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, shooting three residents and rustling livestock.

Residents said the attackers entered the community on Friday night and operated for more than two hours.

According to the account, the assailants split into groups, with one group concentrating on cattle and sheep while another fired shots to keep residents indoors.

The attackers also raided the village’s main phone charging centre, taking away mobile phones and power banks that had been left there by customers.

A resident said the community alerted security agencies when the attack started, but no reinforcement arrived before the attackers withdrew.

The resident added that Rimawa had no stationed soldiers or mobile police, forcing residents to rely on local volunteers for protection.

Daily Trust also reported that one man died on Saturday after complications from high blood pressure allegedly triggered by shock and fear from the attack.
