Paul University Suspends Anglican Priest Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Paul University, Awka, has suspended an Anglican priest and staff member after allegations of serious sexual misconduct involving a female student.
The university said Venerable Cornelius Eze, a Practical Biology Technologist in the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, has been placed on indefinite suspension while internal and law-enforcement investigations continue.
Punch reported that the suspension was announced in a July 17 statement signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Rev. Godsplan Onukwufor. Vanguard also reported that the school had handed the matter to the relevant security agency.
The reports said a video circulating on social media appeared to show inappropriate conduct involving a lecturer and a female student on a university campus.
The university said the suspension was not a final finding of guilt, but a step to allow the disciplinary process and police investigation to proceed.
