Court Orders Aisha Achimugu’s ₦8.9bn Assets Forfeited To FG

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth about ₦8.9 billion linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.

The order covers jewellery valued at about ₦4.6 billion, 11 exotic vehicles valued at about ₦4.29 billion, $50,000 and ₦30 million in cash.

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie granted the final forfeiture application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The court dismissed Achimugu’s objections before making the order.

The EFCC argued that the assets were linked to unlawful activity and should be permanently forfeited. Daily Post reported that Achimugu had earlier lost $13 million to the Federal Government in a separate forfeiture order in March.

The latest ruling gives the Federal Government ownership of the listed jewellery, vehicles and cash unless a higher court overturns the order.
