Soldiers, NDLEA Arrest Suspected Drug Suppliers In Katsina
Soldiers and operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested three men in Katsina State over alleged supply of illicit drugs to terrorists and other criminal groups.
The suspects were arrested during a joint operation on Tuesday evening in Kagara village, Kafur Local Government Area. The operation involved troops from the Forward Operating Base, Malumfashi, and officers of the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi.
The arrested men were identified as Mohammed Lawan, 34; Muhawiya Haruna, 40; and Junadata Usman, 40.
Security sources said the team targeted suspected drug distribution points in the community as part of efforts to cut off narcotics and other intoxicants from criminal networks operating around Kafur and nearby areas.
Items reportedly recovered during the operation included substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, tramadol capsules, pregabalin, diazepam, Extol-5 tablets, rubber solution and a locally known intoxicant called “Suck and Die” spirit.
The suspects and the recovered items were handed over to the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The arrest comes amid continuing security operations across parts of the North-West, where armed groups have been linked to banditry, kidnapping and attacks on communities.
