The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 89 drivers over number plate violations across the state.

The command said the arrests followed enforcement of a nationwide directive by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aimed at improving vehicle traceability and public security.

Police said the violations included irregular number plates and related documentation issues. The enforcement operation was carried out alongside other crime-prevention activity in the state.

Authorities also reported the arrest of two robbery suspects during the period. The command linked the number plate enforcement to wider efforts to track vehicles used in crime and reduce the movement of untraceable vehicles.

The police said the operation would continue, signalling that motorists with irregular plates or incomplete documentation could face further checks as the command expands enforcement across Ogun communities and major routes.
