The Academic Staff Union of Universities in the Bauchi Zone has accused the Gombe and Plateau State Governments of failing to implement the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU agreement.

The warning came from the union’s Bauchi Zone, not the national leadership, and focused on two state-owned universities.

The union said Gombe State University and Plateau State University had not implemented the agreement reached on December 23, 2025, warning that the delay could trigger industrial unrest in the affected institutions.

ASUU Bauchi Zonal Coordinator Timothy-Aku Namo spoke at a press conference held at Gombe State University. He said the refusal of the two state governments to act on the agreement had worsened lecturers’ welfare and increased frustration among academic staff.

Daily Post and Punch both reported the union’s complaint on Thursday. The matter adds to recurring disputes between ASUU and governments over funding, allowances and implementation of agreements reached with university workers, especially in state-owned institutions.
