FG Not Doing Enough On Insecurity, Says Catholic Bishop Mamza
The Catholic Bishop of Yola, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, has criticised the Federal Government for not doing enough to curtail insecurity in the country.
Daily Post reported that Mamza, the immediate-past chairman of the Adamawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, said the Federal Government has yet to show sufficient political will to end the lingering security challenges.
Speaking with journalists shortly after presiding over the closing Mass of the 2026 Yola Diocesan Pastoral Council in Yola, Mamza expressed particular concern over continued killings, kidnappings, banditry, and attacks on communities.
He said that despite repeated assurances by government authorities, the security situation in many parts of the country remains worrisome.
The bishop advised security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve the welfare of security personnel for effectiveness in their operations.
Punch reported that Bishop Isaac Oluyamo of the Ijesa North Diocese of the Anglican Communion in Osun State also urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity, while commending President Tinubu’s handling of the economy.
