Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has visited the family of Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu, the woman killed by a mob in Maraban Jos, and promised that the state government would support her husband and children.

Daily Post reported that the governor made the pledge on Saturday during a condolence visit to the family in Maraban Jos, along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway.

Ummulkhairi, an Islamic teacher, was killed and her body set ablaze after a mob accused her of trying to kidnap children in Igabi Local Government Area.

Vanguard reported that Sani met with her husband, Malam Aliyu, and other family members during the visit.

According to Daily Post, the governor said Kaduna State would cater for the upkeep of the husband and four children, including the children’s education.

He said security agencies had investigated the killing and that about 41 persons had been charged with culpable homicide. Daily Post also reported that 30 suspects had been charged with unlawful assembly.

Vanguard reported that 17 persons not found culpable had been released, while 41 others remained under investigation as security agencies searched for more suspects.

The governor also said any police officer found to have been directly or indirectly involved in the incident would face legal sanctions.

The visit is a follow-up to NaijaTrend’s earlier report on Kaduna State hailing the arraignment of suspects over the mob killing here.
