The Adamawa State Police Command says it has arrested 57 suspects during a crackdown on Shilla gang activities and other crimes in Jimeta and Yola.

Vanguard reported that the operation targeted criminal hideouts and black spots in the two metropolitan areas.

The command said the suspects were linked to offences including Shilla-related activities, public nuisance, possession of dangerous weapons and involvement with prohibited substances.

Daily Post also reported the arrest of 57 people, citing the police command’s statement that divisional police officers carried out the raids under the supervision of area commanders.

Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje said operatives recovered dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances during the exercise.

Vanguard reported that the suspects had been charged to court, while profiling and further investigation were continuing.

The police commissioner, Kabiru Umar Hassan, urged residents to keep giving security agencies credible information as the command continues operations against criminal gangs in the state.
