IGP Appoints Anietie Iniedu As New Force Public Relations Officer
Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu has appointed CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.
TheCable reported that Iniedu succeeds Anthony Placid, who had been appointed in March 2026 shortly after Disu became Inspector-General of Police.
BusinessDay reported that the appointment was announced by Force Headquarters in Abuja and is intended to strengthen strategic communication, transparency and public engagement around ongoing policing reforms.
Before his appointment, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja. TheCable also reported that he had previously served as public relations officer of the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State.
The appointment resolves earlier conflicting reports around the police spokesperson change. The aligned version from current reliable sources names Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force PRO and Anthony Placid as the outgoing spokesperson.
