Gunmen Kill Plateau District Head In Bokkos Ambush
Gunmen have killed the District Head of Gwande, Saf Samuel Alaket, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Premium Times, Daily Trust and Daily Post reported that the traditional ruler was attacked near the Sha District axis close to Daffo community while returning from activities in Bokkos.
Residents quoted in the reports said the attackers opened fire on his vehicle around 7:30 p.m., leaving him critically injured.
Alaket was taken to a nearby medical facility, where he later died from the injuries sustained in the ambush.
Community members described the killing as a painful loss to Gwande and the wider Bokkos area, while local leaders said the incident threw residents and the traditional council into mourning.
The reports said security concerns rose in the area after the attack, although local youth leaders said calm had later returned.
Police confirmation was still being sought at the time of the source reports, so the story remains framed around resident and community-source accounts.
