Stan Nze Says Phones Were Stolen at Alex Ekubo’s Service of Songs

Nollywood actor Stan Nze has raised concern after several phones were reportedly stolen during the service of songs held for actor Alex Ekubo in Lagos.

Daily Post and PM News reported that Stan Nze, who hosted the event, said more than five phones went missing during the gathering. His reaction followed complaints from actresses Bam Bam and Susan Peters, who also raised alarm over stolen phones at the same event.

According to the reports, Stan questioned how people could attend a mourning event and still steal from those present. He described the incident as troubling, especially because the gathering was meant to honour a colleague and friend.

TheNetNG reported that several Nigerian entertainers attended the service of songs on June 10, with guests turning out in Lagos despite heavy rainfall. The outlet listed a broad Nollywood and entertainment presence, including actors, filmmakers, musicians and public figures who came to pay their respects.

The reported theft has now added an uncomfortable subplot to what was supposed to be a solemn farewell event. For many Nollywood followers, the service of songs was meant to focus on Ekubo’s life, career, and the large network of colleagues who came to honour him.

Stan’s complaint has instead sparked a wider conversation about conduct at public events, personal security at celebrity gatherings, and the need for better crowd control even during private memorial activities.
