Armed Cameroonian Soldiers Enter Nigerian Village in Cross River, Sparking Panic

Reports of a fresh border scare in Danare, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, say heavily armed Cameroonian soldiers entered the border community on Wednesday, prompting panic among residents.

Vanguard reported that more than 200 soldiers were involved, while Punch said the troops were seen carrying sophisticated weapons and fired warning shots after local youths challenged their presence. Both reports said residents fled the scene as local leaders moved to calm the situation.

Residents Flee as Tension Rises

The incident has reignited concerns about border security along the Nigeria-Cameroon frontier, where Danare has seen similar incursions in the past. Boki Local Government Area chairman Beatrice Nyiam said the matter was receiving the attention of relevant security agencies and urged residents to remain calm.
