Police Neutralise Three Bandits In Zamfara’s Jangebe Forest Axis

The Zamfara State Police Command says its operatives have neutralised three suspected bandits during a security operation around the Jangebe forest axis, an area long linked with armed criminal activity in the state.

According to reports by Leadership, Daily Post and Peoples Gazette, the operation was carried out around communities including Taza, Wuya and Gwaram villages. The police said the offensive was part of ongoing efforts to disrupt bandit movements, recover illegal weapons and restore confidence among residents of vulnerable communities.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, was cited as confirming that three suspected bandits were neutralised during the encounter. He also said police operatives recovered three AK-47 rifles, 23 live rounds of ammunition, three magazines and 10 motorcycles allegedly used by the armed group.

Weapons and motorcycles recovered

The recovery of assault rifles and motorcycles is significant because security agencies have repeatedly linked motorcycle mobility to rural attacks, kidnappings and raids across parts of Zamfara and neighbouring states. Armed groups often use motorcycles to move quickly through forest routes, strike isolated settlements and evade security checkpoints.
