NSCDC Seals Two Chinese Steel Companies Over Alleged Multi-Billion Naira Railway Theft
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed two Chinese-linked steel companies in Kaduna State over allegations of stealing railway infrastructure worth billions of naira.
Inner Galaxy Steel and Jiuxing Steel Company were sealed off on Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into the theft of railway tracks and materials from the Nigeria Railway Corporation’s infrastructure.
NSCDC officials said Chinese nationals linked to the companies have been summoned for questioning over the alleged theft, which has caused significant damage to the railway system in the northwest region.
Railway Infrastructure Under Attack
The sealing of the steel companies comes amid rising incidents of railway vandalism across Nigeria, with criminals targeting tracks, signaling equipment, and other infrastructure for sale to scrap dealers.
Security sources said the stolen materials were being melted down at the steel facilities and sold as scrap metal, generating millions of naira in illegal profits.
The NSCDC said the operation was part of broader efforts to protect critical national infrastructure from vandalism and theft.
