The Federal Government has tapped three of Nollywood’s biggest names — Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, and Joke Silva — as members of the entertainment committee for the 2026 National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally.

The event, organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, is billed as “The Power of 10 Million: One Voice! One Movement!! One Choice!!!” The plan is to bring 10 million women to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on May 5, 2026.

According to the organisers, the entertainment committee is “charged with bringing energy, culture, creativity and unforgettable moments to this historic national gathering.”

Who else is on the committee

The committee is chaired by Rahama Sadau, Eniola Badmus, Ngozi Okoh, and Tola Akerele. Other members include Fausat Balogun (Madam Saje), Toyin Adegbola, Sola Kosoko, and Esther Wright, among others.

The broader rally organising team also features prominent women, including Lagos First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Minister of Art and Culture Hannatu Musawa, and Rachael Umahi.

The appointment has drawn reactions on social media, with many fans expressing pride at seeing major Nollywood figures take on official national roles. The rally is expected to be one of the largest gatherings of women in Nigerian history.
