Oyo State police say they have arrested a suspect in connection with burglaries at four homes in Ibadan and recovered some of the property reported stolen.
Command spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka announced the arrest in a statement on Sunday. Police put the total value of the property stolen in the four incidents at N16.22 million.
Officers from the Violent Crime Response Unit acted after residents of Oyewole Zone 2, Ile-Igbon, in the Ejiooku/Iyana Offa area reported break-ins.
The command said officers found the suspect at a residential apartment with a sack containing house cables and other valuables estimated at N3 million.
Items reported stolen included mobile phones, motorcycle batteries and household property. Police said officers visited the affected homes to investigate.
Residents of Ejiooku, Iyana Offa, Ile-Igbon and adjoining communities whose homes have been burgled were asked to report to a nearby police station or the unit’s Maku Base.
Police said they were still seeking the remaining property and people suspected of receiving stolen goods.
