Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, will present his manifesto with his running mate, Lawal Daura, in Abuja on 4 November.
The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation set the date and the venue, the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hotels and Suites, in a notice it shared with Premium Times. Makinde also gave the date at a town hall meeting in Enugu on Thursday, the Nigerian Tribune reported.
The document, titled “Manifesto and Policy Document (2027–2031)”, will set out in writing the policies Makinde has described at campaign events since he declared his bid in May.
Makinde has said the plan rests on four pillars: the economy, the security architecture, education and the socio-political system.
In Enugu, he said high interest rates and a shortage of long-term finance were holding back manufacturing. “You cannot expand manufacturing and employ millions of people when interest rates are at 25 per cent and long-term financing facilities are unavailable,” he said.
He has also promised to reorganise security around intelligence gathering, early warning and coordination between agencies, to tackle the number of children out of school, and to give states more responsibilities.
Makinde said the manifesto would reflect concerns raised at town hall meetings in all six geopolitical zones, of which Enugu was the last. “We do not simply manufacture policies out of thin air,” he said.
He said his campaign had partnered with SkillResert Nigeria to train one million young people in skills that could get them into work quickly.
The campaign said the 4 November event would bring together political leaders, “friends of democracy” and other stakeholders for the formal presentation of the document.
