Police in Abuja have arrested a tiler, Samuel Net, over the suspected homicide of a hotel worker, Joseph Terdoo, following a confrontation at a hotel in Utako.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command disclosed the arrest on Sunday, October 25. Its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said officers had responded to a distress report from the hotel at about 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20.

The report concerned unusual noise and activity on the third floor. Officers traced it to Room 301, where they found Net, who had been hired by the hotel, with marks of violence on his body, according to the police account.

Terdoo was lying unconscious on the floor with multiple marks of violence. He was taken to Wuse District Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival, Adeh said.

The command said its investigation indicated that a disagreement between the men had escalated into a physical confrontation. It alleged that Net pushed Terdoo, who fell, struck his head on a wooden object and collapsed.

The account is the police’s description of the incident. Neither report gave details of a court appearance or a charge filed against Net.

FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi urged residents to avoid violence and resolve disagreements peacefully. The command asked residents to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or call its emergency lines, 08032003913 and 08061581938.
