Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, executive secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency, has died with four of his children in a road accident at Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The crash happened on Saturday, October 17, according to the account published by Punch. Another son, Suleiman, reportedly survived.
Punch identified the children who died as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam. The deaths were confirmed in a condolence statement from Governor Bala Mohammed, signed by his media adviser, Mukhtar Gidado.
Mohammed described Duguri as a personal friend and classmate. He said the agency chief had worked to expand access to healthcare through the state’s contributory health system, particularly for poorer residents.
The governor also recalled Duguri’s service with Bauchi’s medical team during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia and prayed for Suleiman’s recovery.
The statement announced funeral prayers for 11am on Sunday, October 18, at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri. The reports did not confirm whether the prayers had taken place.
