Delta State Police Command says it arrested 95 suspected cultists during coordinated raids in four local government areas on October 15, 2026.
The command reported recovering five firearms: two pump-action guns, one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun and two locally made pistols. It also reported recovering 12 live cartridges and seven expended cartridges.
Police spokesman Bright Edafe said the operations covered Asaba, Ika South, Ughelli South and Okpe. Officers from the Department of Operations, Rapid Response Squad and Command Anti-Cultism Unit took part, according to the statement reported by Punch.
Edafe said police raided a hotel along Abraka Road in Asaba after receiving information that suspected members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger, had gathered for an alleged anniversary celebration. He said 67 suspects, comprising 55 men and 12 women, were arrested there.
The command said another 15 suspects, comprising 14 men and one woman, were arrested in Agbor, Ika South, while 10 men were arrested in Jeddo, Okpe.
The accounts differ on the number arrested in Jeremy community, Ughelli South. Punch reported three arrests there, while Daily Trust reported two. Both outlets gave the command’s overall total as 95.
Edafe said the suspects and recovered exhibits remained in police custody and investigations were ongoing.
