The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed businesswoman Aisha Achimugu’s fundamental rights suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, including her demand for N10 billion in damages, according to the commission.

The case concerned the search of her residence and the seizure of vehicles, jewellery and other belongings. Achimugu asked the court to determine whether the EFCC had acted within its powers and sought protection for her right to privacy.

In a statement issued on Monday and reported by Punch, the EFCC said Justice M.S. Liman dismissed the suit, numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/466/2026.

Achimugu had sought an order restraining the commission from allegedly threatening or harassing her and invading her home. Her N10 billion damages claim was based on what she described as an invasion of her privacy.

The EFCC’s account of the ruling said the judge held that the commission could search her residence after receiving intelligence about alleged criminal activity. It also said she and her legal representatives had not established sufficient grounds for the damages sought.

According to the statement, the court found no basis to prevent the commission from carrying out its statutory duties and dismissed the suit for lacking merit.

NaijaTrend previously reported a court order forfeiting assets linked to Achimugu to the Federal Government here.

EFCC counsel Emenike Mgbemele welcomed the judgment, describing it as being in the interest of justice.
