The military says troops arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, destroyed three improvised explosive devices in Zamfara and recovered 73 animals allegedly stolen by terrorists.

Operation Fansan Yamma spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja gave the account in a Friday statement covering operations conducted on October 8.

Danja said Sector One troops arrested Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area after receiving intelligence about alleged collaboration with terrorists.

The military alleged that the suspect took part in recording a video of a kidnapped woman to support a ransom demand. According to the military, Adamu alleged during preliminary interrogation that the woman was killed after the ransom was delivered and that he received N50,000 for his role. The military also alleged that the woman had been sexually assaulted. These claims are part of the military’s account and have not been established by a court.

In Zamfara, troops worked with the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to locate and destroy three devices along the Magami-Dansadau road, according to the statement.

Danja said another deployment followed intelligence about rustled livestock being moved between Kombo and Gurusu villages. He said troops engaged suspected terrorists, who fled and left the animals behind.

The recovered animals comprised 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep. The military said troops and local vigilantes moved them to a secure location for further action.

Danja said investigations were continuing to locate alleged principal suspect Yusuf Iliya Sani and other suspected collaborators.
