NNPC says N66 petrol discount will run until October 31
NNPC Limited says its N66-per-litre petrol discount will continue until October 31 at its retail stations nationwide.
The company said it introduced the offer on October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary. Chief Corporate Communications Officer Andy Odeh set out the October 31 end date in a statement reported by Punch and Daily Trust on Friday.
NNPC described the offer as a customer relief initiative, not a return to petroleum subsidy. It said the arrangement applies to NNPC Retail outlets and does not establish a uniform national pump price or change the market-based pricing framework.
Vanguard reported a different end date in its account of an NNPC promotional notice on X. That notice extended the offer by one week to October 14 and included diesel. The statement cited by Punch and Daily Trust gives October 31 for the petrol discount; the reports therefore describe differing terms.
The statement followed Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele’s announcement on Thursday of a 30-day discount at NNPC stations, with priority for public transport operators. NaijaTrend reported that announcement here.
NNPC said it would continue to explain the scope and duration of its customer offers so buyers could make informed purchasing decisions.
