Rivers State police say they have arrested two suspects over the abduction of a Port Harcourt resident identified as Hassan, who was held for three days before his relatives paid N10.3m for his release.
The command’s account concerns an abduction on September 6, 2026, near Fidelity Bank in the Garrison area. Police said the victim was taken to Igbugulu Waterside in Borikiri, Port Harcourt.
Police spokesperson Blessing Agabe announced the arrests in a statement reported by Vanguard on Monday. The command said officers received information about the abduction on September 7 and began an intelligence-led investigation.
Channels named the suspects as Victor Ifeanyi, 24, also known as Big Boby, and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36, also known as Duff Man. Police alleged they were members of a six-person kidnapping gang.
The command said its Violent Crime Response Unit carried out the investigation. It alleged that the suspects admitted involvement and that the group used a white minibus during the abduction.
Police said efforts were continuing to find the remaining members of the alleged gang. Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju urged residents to provide useful information and said it would be treated confidentially.
