One dead, three seriously injured in Lagos Coastal Road crash
One person died and three others were seriously injured when a Lexus Jeep 350 crashed on the Coastal Road towards Eko Hotel in Lagos on Friday, October 2.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said the grey vehicle, with registration number LSD 554 KV, reportedly lost control, struck a roadside pole and overturned.
The account was contained in a statement signed by LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq. LASTMA described the account of the loss of control as preliminary information.
LASTMA officers monitoring traffic in the area moved to the scene, secured the affected section of road and coordinated the emergency response. Bystanders helped remove the injured people from the wreckage.
The three injured victims were taken to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for urgent treatment, the authority said. Security personnel from Victoria Island also assisted at the scene.
Officers later removed the damaged vehicle from the carriageway to reduce the risk of another collision and restore traffic movement.
LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki offered condolences to the family of the deceased and urged drivers to maintain safe speeds and obey traffic regulations.
Motorists can report crashes, breakdowns, obstructions and other road emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, 3367.
