The Nigerian Navy says it has recovered about 80,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in Delta State and arrested three suspected drug traffickers in related operations with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

NNS Delta said the seizures came from two anti-crude oil theft operations in the Niger Delta creeks between Monday and Tuesday. The first operation, at Oteghele community, found a large dug-out reservoir containing 30,000 litres of crude oil, while the second, at Obodo Omadino, found another 50,000 litres.

The command also said Navy and NDLEA personnel carried out an operation around Warri and nearby areas, arresting three suspects and seizing 15 kilogrammes of cannabis, some cocaine and crystal meth, among other items.

Commodore Shehu Tasiu, Commander of NNS Delta, said the combined operation targeted crude oil theft, illegal petroleum activity and illicit drug trafficking in the command’s area.
