Three soldiers killed as military reports 16 terrorists killed in Adamawa
Three soldiers were killed during fighting in Adamawa State, the military said, as it reported that troops killed 16 terrorists in operations between September 30 and October 1.
Troops repelled attacks on 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha, according to Capt. Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai. Wounded soldiers were evacuated and were receiving treatment in stable condition.
Goni said troops ambushed a terrorist enclave in the Boima area of Gombi Local Government Area, killing 16 terrorists. A search of the area recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one Dane gun, six AK-47 magazines and a belt of pump-action cartridges.
The Air Component also carried out a strike on October 1 after surveillance detected about 16 terrorists with 15 motorcycles under a tree canopy in Sector 4. The military said the target was struck at about 5:30 a.m. and that a subsequent assessment confirmed its destruction.
The statement said follow-up searches and mop-up operations were continuing across the affected areas.
