Covenant, UI and UNILAG lead Nigerian universities in 2027 global ranking
Covenant University, the University of Ibadan and the University of Lagos have emerged as Nigeria’s highest-ranked universities in the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The three institutions were placed in the 801-1000 band globally in the ranking published on Wednesday.
Punch reported that Nigeria had 29 ranked universities in the 2027 edition, up from 24 in the 2026 rankings.
Daily Post listed Osun State University, the University of Maiduguri, Kwara State University, Olabisi Onabanjo University and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, among Nigerian institutions in the 1001-1200 band.
The ranking also placed several other Nigerian universities in lower bands, including institutions in the 1201-1500 and 1501+ ranges.
