The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed October 13, 2026, to hear an application by Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress to amend their suit challenging President Bola Tinubu’s eligibility for the 2027 presidential election.

The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, is before Justice Inyang Ekwo. Atiku and the ADC filed it against Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Punch and Channels TV reported that counsel for the plaintiffs, Joseph Silas, told the court on Monday that processes had been served on the defendants and that the plaintiffs had responded to the processes they received.

The case had earlier been slowed by a dispute over service on Tinubu. Punch reported that Tinubu’s lawyer, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, reminded the court of the previous disagreement, while the judge urged lawyers to focus on the business before the court.

Daily Post reported that Atiku told the court he wanted to make a substantial amendment to the case. Channels TV reported that the suit centres on an alleged discrepancy involving the name on an NYSC discharge certificate submitted to INEC and Tinubu’s official name.

The court adjourned after confirming that lawyers in the matter had been put on notice of the application. The amendment request will now be taken when the case returns in October.
