Abuja gas-store explosion injures driver and child in Kubwa
A Sunday morning explosion and fire at a gas store in Kubwa, Abuja, injured a driver and a child and damaged nearby property.
Daily Trust reported that a car rammed into a gas store on Arab Road, Kubwa, triggering the explosion. It said the driver of the car and a child were rescued and taken to hospital.
The Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, said its firefighters and other emergency responders were called to the Liberty Junction area at about 6:30am and contained the fire.
The service said the response helped prevent a larger gas explosion. Videos and photos from the scene showed a burnt building, damaged vehicles and smoke from the outlet.
Daily Trust reported that nearby shops, shelter stands and signposts around Liberty Junction were affected, while residents as far as Dantata Estate said they felt the impact of the blast.
