Babachir Lawal joins NDC after leaving ADC

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress, three months after leaving the ADC.
Lawal was unveiled in Abuja on Tuesday after a meeting with NDC National Leader Seriake Dickson. Punch reported that NDC National Secretary Ikenna Enekweizu was also present at the event.
Daily Post reported that Lawal left the ADC on June 1 over the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate. He had previously said he would support the Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket if he returned from his political break.
The move gives the NDC another high-profile northern politician as parties continue early positioning for the 2027 elections.
